In collaboration with Te Hunga Rōia Māori o Aotearoa (the Maori Law Society) and the Pacific Lawyers Association, MinterEllisonRuddWatts and Kāhui Legal want to show high school students what it is like to be a lawyer in New Zealand.

During the upcoming school holidays, on Tuesday 26 to Thursday 28 April  MERW and Kāhui are going to be facilitating a programme through Zoom, where Year 11 – 13 students can hear from lawyers, judges, law students and other people in the legal profession. They’ll talk about what it is like to be a lawyer, what it is like to go to law school, and aim to show students that they’ve got what it takes to be a lawyer if they want to do so. The students will be taken on some virtual tours and have some quizzes and activities to show that lawyers know how to have fun and keep the tauira engaged. Content will be recorded and subsequently made available to schools to show to any interested students unable to join on-line. 

We have prepared a short video  to promote and summarise the programme and encourage students to enrol. Please feel free to share this video with your students and your school’s social media platform (there is a function to share the video in the top right hand corner). I’ve also attached an overview of the programme above so you have an idea of how the 3 days will run.
