One of our year 12 students, Gurmeen Kaur, has recently placed 4th in the Hawke's Bay RSA Speech Contest and was awarded a monetary prize.
Gurmeen gave a powerful performance about the theme, “Women at War.” She recalled stories about the many Maori and Indian women who dedicated themselves to the war effort, but whose actions are often forgotten.
Through these women, Gurmeen reminded us to honour the bravery of those before us and made connections between the many cultures practised in New Zealand. Congratulations Gurmeen.
