Term Two Week 8
Concord Symphonic Band
Last Sunday, five of our students were involved with the Hawke's Bay Festival of Bands, playing in the Concord Symphonic Band. This year the festival included 15 bands from around Hawke's Bay, the Manawatu and as far as Hamilton. The diverse bands were from schools or community groups and were jazz bands, concert bands or orchestras.
Our students have been playing as part of the Concord Symphonic Band this year which is a historical partnership between HGHS and Lindisfarne College being rejuvenated for 2024 and beyond. They gave a solid performance and were awarded a Silver certificate which is a great achievement. The band is next competing in August at the New Zealand Concert Bands Association festival in Hamilton. Good Luck to Pippa, Summer, Doris, Phoenix and Elise.

One week to go.....
Menu for Week 9
Senior A & Ākina Netball Scoop
The Senior A had a great win. They played a smart game, shooting percentages were good but defensively the team stepped up and came up with brilliant gains across the court. Great ākina spirit was shown!!! Our Ākina side had a consistent game of Netball this week. They came out strong from the start and showed great intensity for a full game. A good win by the team against Wairoa College Senior A, 41-31.
Hockey Scoop
On Monday our Hockey team played yet another Napier Girls' team with our backs and goalie getting more of a workout than last week in a hard fought game. The end of the first half saw the teams tied at 1 all. The second half saw a fast paced back and forth game between the two teams ending in a win for HGHS with a final score of 5-4.
