PPTA Strike Action
The Secondary Teachers' Union PPTA is continuing industrial action in Term 2. This will impact our school community with rostering home of students in year groups starting on specific days.
This will mean that on the below dates students won't be at school. This does not impact extracurricular activities such as cultural groups and sport on these days that occur outside of normal school hours:
Thursday 4 May - Year 11s are rostered home
Tuesday 9 May - Year 12s are rostered home
Wednesday 10 May - Full school strike
Thursday 11 May - Year 13s are rostered home
Tuesday 16 May - Year 9s are rostered home
Wednesday 17 May - Year 10s are rostered home
There is a full school strike day on Wednesday 10 May. This will include no extracurricular activities such as cultural groups and sport on these days being run by PPTA members.
If a student requires supervision or would like to study that day, they may come in and use the library.

Attendance
As you are aware, attendance is a major focus this year. We will continue with texting and contacting you when students are away or late. With the increasing number of students that are late each morning, without an acceptable explanation, we have decided to run an after school block from 3.15pm - 4.15pm. We will ring home and give you 24 hours' notice so you can make alternative arrangements to pick your student up if required. Thank you for your help in getting students to school on time.
Head Lice
We have been alerted by HB Regional Health there are a number of head lice cases out in the community. Please check your students; if they require treatment or have any concerns please email nurse@hastingsgirls.com
