Term One Week 9
Teacher Only Day
On Thursday 6 April we will be holding our planned Teacher Only Day. Our staff will all be offsite for training in the morning, therefore, the office will be closed from 8am until 1pm.
Black & White Mufti Day
Next Wednesday 5 April we will be participating in wearing black and white clothing in the event of 'Hawke's Bay Together in Black & White'.
This mufti day will be to show our support and solidarity for our region which has been hit hard these past couple of months. So on Wednesday please come in black and white clothing. If you do, please remember it is a gold coin donation and these donations will be collected by your House leaders during the House meetings. This money will be donated to the Hawke's Bay Disaster Relief Trust.
However this is not a welcome day for you to dress in half mufti/half uniform. You are either in black and white clothing or in full uniform. And again if you are in mufti, it is a gold coin donation.
Surprise Visit
At Wednesday's training session our rugby girls had a surprise visitor from Black Fern and ex student Liana Mikaele-Tu'u. It was an awesome training session and Liana put the girls through their paces.

Congratulations Renae
Congratulations Renae Colman-Savage, Year 12, who competed in the 2023 NZ BMX Nationals in Tauranga earlier this month. She ranked 3rd overall. Awesome effort Renae.
Pathway to the Podium Hub
Last week the Pathway to the Podium Hub had visits from the Hawks Basketball Coach, Everard Bartlett, and Players, Jordan Ngatai and Hyrum Harris. The aim of the sessions was for students to experience what it was like to train at elite level and to also gain an insight into what is needed to reach the elite level and become a professional athlete.
3x3 Basketball Nationals
Shout out to our Junior and Senior 3x3 Basketball teams who continue to make their whānau, kura and hapori proud.
Entered into the Elite Junior and Senior grades the girls have been punching above their weight during tournament.
Our Seniors have a quarter finals game this evening. This puts them at Top 8 in the country an incredible achievement, but we're not surprised !!
Our Juniors team had a narrow loss in overtime to St Kents and we are waiting to hear the results to see where in the upper and lower play offs they sit.
Saturday will be their last day at tournament.
We look forward to welcoming you home to celebrate your success!
Student Cookbook
We are a group of four Level 2 Health students and for our Health promotion this year we decided to make a cookbook for our students and their families here at Hastings Girls' High School. Our aim for this recipe book was to make sure it was full of nutritious, yummy, easy, quick, affordable and family friendly meals. There are free copies available at the Student Centre.
